AI Usage & Responsible Use Policy
CAPA is our own AI, running on our own infrastructure. This policy explains what it can do, who gets access, the fair-use allowances that apply, and the lines you must not cross.

1. Introduction
Capital Academy builds artificial intelligence into learning because it makes good teaching available at any hour, in your language, at your pace. This policy sets out how we expect our AI services to be used, and how we operate them.
It forms part of the Learner Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses an AI feature on the platform. Read it together with the Privacy Policy, which explains how AI interaction data is handled, and the Code of Conduct & Academic Integrity Policy, which governs assessments.
CAPA runs on infrastructure Capital Academy operates. Your conversations are not sent to a third-party general-purpose AI vendor, and they are never used to train anyone else's model.
2. What CAPA is
CAPA is our proprietary AI learning assistant, purpose-built for finance and investment education and grounded in the Capital Academy curriculum. Depending on your entitlements and the class you are studying, it may be available as:
- AI text tutoring
- A chat assistant inside a class that answers questions, explains concepts, works through examples and helps you revise, with the context of what you are currently studying.
- AI voice tutoring
- A spoken conversation with CAPA, for learners who prefer to talk through a concept rather than type.
- AI instructor avatar
- A real-time animated instructor that speaks with you. This is the most resource-intensive feature and is available only with the AI add-on.
- AI study aids
- Summaries, flashcards, practice quizzes and podcast-style audio generated from the underlying course material.
AI features vary between classes, plans, devices and jurisdictions. We may add, change, upgrade or withdraw them. See section 11.
3. Who can use AI services
Access depends on your account status.
- Visitors (not signed in)
- No access to AI services. CAPA lives behind sign-in.
- Registered learners
- A one-time free trial allowance of AI usage, granted once per learner for the lifetime of the account. The trial does not include the AI instructor avatar. Once it is used, continuing requires the AI add-on.
- AI add-on subscribers
- The full service (text tutoring, voice tutoring and the AI instructor avatar) subject to the fair-use allowances in section 4.
AI services are available only inside classes you are entitled to access. We may change what the free trial and the AI add-on include, on reasonable notice.
4. Fair use and metering
AI services consume real computing resources, and voice and avatar sessions consume far more than text. To keep the service available and affordable for everyone, usage is metered.
- Text tutoring is measured in messages.
- Voice tutoring and avatar sessions are measured in time.
- Allowances may apply per day, per calendar month, or once for the lifetime of your account.
- Your current allowances and remaining usage are shown in your dashboard.
- When an allowance is exhausted, that feature is unavailable until it resets or you upgrade.
Live sessions may also be subject to a maximum duration and an idle timeout, and only one live voice or avatar session may run at a time per account. Unused allowance does not roll over and has no cash value.
Automated, scripted or high-volume querying, sharing an account to pool allowances, or creating additional accounts to obtain further trial usage are all breaches of this policy.
5. What CAPA will and will not answer
CAPA is scoped to finance, investment and the Capital Academy curriculum. It is designed to decline questions outside that scope, and it will decline requests for personal financial, investment, legal, tax or medical guidance.
This is deliberate. A finance-education assistant that answers anything is a worse teacher and a bigger risk. If CAPA declines a question, it is usually because the question sits outside what it is qualified to help with, not because it is broken.
AI services complement, and do not replace, critical thinking, independent research, your instructor's guidance, professional judgement and the official course materials.
6. Limitations you should assume
Artificial intelligence has inherent limitations. AI-generated responses may:
- contain factual inaccuracies, including confidently stated ones
- rely on information that is out of date
- omit context that would change the answer
- misunderstand your question or the level you are working at
- give incomplete, inconsistent or repetitive explanations
- produce output that is irrelevant to your class
We do not guarantee that AI-generated information will be accurate, complete, current or suitable for any particular learning objective. Verify anything that matters against the official course materials and authoritative sources, and tell us when CAPA gets something wrong, using the feedback control in the chat.
AI-generated responses are never investment, financial, legal, tax, accounting, regulatory or medical advice. Obtain independent professional advice where you need it.
7. Using AI responsibly
You are responsible for how you interpret and act on AI output, for verifying important information, and for complying with the law. We accept no responsibility for decisions made on the basis of AI-generated responses.
You must not use our AI services to:
- generate unlawful, harmful, hateful or harassing content
- facilitate fraud, deception or financial crime
- impersonate another person or organisation
- create malicious code or assist an attack on any system
- produce content that infringes someone's intellectual property
- generate material that sexualises minors or exploits vulnerable people
- circumvent assessment or examination rules
- extract our course content in bulk or rebuild it elsewhere
Do not enter sensitive personal information, confidential employer information, credentials or payment details into CAPA. It does not need them and the service is not designed to receive them.
8. AI and assessments
Using CAPA or any other AI system to answer an assessment for you, where that is not expressly permitted, is academic misconduct.
CAPA is a study companion. Use it to understand a concept, work through a practice problem, check your reasoning or revise before an exam. That is exactly what it is for.
Do not use it, or any other AI tool, to generate answers you submit as your own in a final exam or any assessment where AI assistance is not expressly allowed. Where an activity permits AI assistance, we say so. Where it is silent, assume it is not permitted and ask us.
Investigations into suspected misconduct may include review of AI interaction logs. Consequences are set out in the Code of Conduct & Academic Integrity Policy and section 20 of the Learner Terms of Service, and can extend to invalidated results, revoked certificates and account termination.
9. No manipulation of AI systems
You must not attempt to:
- manipulate CAPA's behaviour or push it outside its intended scope
- extract confidential system prompts, model configuration or internal instructions
- perform prompt-injection or jailbreak attacks
- bypass safety controls, content filters or the domain guard
- reverse engineer, extract, copy or distil our models
- use our AI services to build, train or evaluate a competing model or dataset
- intentionally degrade performance, including through automated or high-volume querying
Attempts to manipulate our AI systems may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of Platform access without refund. If you find a genuine safety weakness, report it to support@capitalacademy.ai rather than exploiting it. See the responsible disclosure section of the Website Terms of Use.
10. Your conversations and data
We store your AI conversations so CAPA can follow the thread within a class, so you can return to earlier sessions, and so we can operate, secure, moderate and improve the service.
Conversation records may be reviewed where reasonably necessary for support, quality assurance, security investigations, academic integrity investigations or legal compliance. Access is restricted to authorised personnel.
We may use interaction data to improve our own educational AI, applying aggregation, anonymisation or pseudonymisation where appropriate. We do not use your content to train third-party general-purpose AI models. You can ask us to delete your conversation history. See the Privacy Policy.
Where you use voice features, audio is processed for the duration of the session to produce a response. Avatar sessions are metered by time and subject to a concurrency limit.
11. Human oversight, availability and change
11.1 Humans make the decisions that matter
We do not use AI to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you without appropriate human involvement. Exam results, certificate issuance, academic misconduct findings and account termination are reviewed by people.
11.2 Transparency
Where you are interacting with AI rather than a person, we tell you, unless it is obvious from the context. AI-generated study aids are labelled as such. AI instructors and avatars are AI. They are not real people, and they do not represent the personal views of any individual expert.
11.3 Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. AI features may be modified, upgraded, replaced, suspended or withdrawn at any time, and improvements to the underlying models may change how they behave. Temporary interruption or change does not entitle you to a refund.
12. Reporting problems
If CAPA gives you an answer that is wrong, inappropriate, biased or harmful, tell us. Use the feedback control in the chat, or write to support@capitalacademy.ai with the class and roughly when it happened.
We investigate reports, use them to improve the system, and act on serious issues promptly. Feedback from learners is the most reliable signal we have about where the AI is falling short.
13. Breaches of this policy
Where we reasonably believe this policy has been breached, we may restrict or suspend access to AI features, reduce or withdraw allowances, invalidate affected assessment results, suspend or terminate the account, and take any other step available under the Learner Terms of Service.
No refund is payable where AI access is withdrawn for breach of this policy. Serious breaches may also be reported to the relevant authorities where the law requires it.
14. Changes to this policy
AI moves quickly, and this policy will move with it. We may update it to reflect new capabilities, changes in how the models work, changes in law or regulatory guidance, or lessons learned from how the service is used.
The current version is always published on this page with its effective date. Where a change materially affects your rights or the allowances you rely on, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect.
